As I was looking over the FY 2017 workplan, I noticed that Deliverable 1 is a report on the Gap Analysis (GA) but the description on what is expected is almost verbatim to the one for the Comprehensive Needs Assessment (CNA) on the FY 2016 workplan.
I have also done some internet research and it appears that the CNA and GA are basically the same thing……is this correct? If so, how is everyone else completing a GA if the CNA was completed with the same information? I’m confused about this so someone please enlighten me. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Rina,
My understanding of all of this is that Deliverable #1 is dealing with the Transportation Resources. Deliverable #2 is the Needs Assessment and Gap Analysis. I believe the difference between the CNA and GA is that the CNA talks about the needs (some of which are are already meeting or partially meeting) and the GA is where your service does not fully satisfy the need.
example would be that a Need is transportation for medical appointments. Gap is that we do not take people on Saturday, early morning or evening.
    Does this make sense?

Yes Nancy, that makes perfect sense but the CNA I submitted was about unmet needs, not those that we are already meeting so in turn those are “gaps”. The only thing that is different is the two deliverables you mentioned were for FY 2016 and are complete. I will begin working on FY 2017 deliverables which are #1 Gap Analysis and #2 Final updated Regional Plan. So I need an whole other report for the GA and everything I saw online had them combined, which was not the case of my workplan. Hopefully I can get more information over the next few months to be able to complete a gap analysis without taking everything from the needs assessment ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Rina,
There are only 3 deliverables total…1 transportation resources, 2 CNA & GA &
    3 Final Plan…
    am I missing something?

My two workplans have four deliverables total:

FY 2016: Transportation Resource Inventory and Comprehensive Needs Assessment

FY 2017: Gap Analysis and Final Updated Plan

I don’t remember the exact way these were put together but I am thinking TxDOT determined the deliverables; I just included the activities and the dates and costs associated with each deliverable.

After talking to my PTC and re-reading the Plan to Work It! Guidebook, it does have only the three deliverables you mentioned so we are trying to figure out why my CNA & GA are separated. Thanks for your help in clarifying all this ๐Ÿ™‚
